Overview
Surface roughness is a critical parameter to measure and control during optical manufacture. Optical Perspective’s unique new MFT is a simple, low cost solution to surface roughness
measurement.

The MFT has three unique configurations: a stand-alone measurement sensor, and its large and small optics configurations. The stand-alone measurement sensor is a modified Point Source
Microscope (PSM) and is designed for on machine metrology, integration into custom fixturing or a multiaxis test stand.

The large optic configuration sets directly on the optical surface to be measured wich is larger than 100 mm diameter. Ease of use is assured by design. Simply place the MicroFinish
Topographer on the surface to be measured. Its three nylon support balls gently contact the surface. Simple tip/tilt and focus controls adjust the instrument for high contrast fringes.
Once initially aligned, the next time you place the MFT on the surface fringes are aligned and it is ready to measure immediately.

The small optic configuration is upward looking with a self-aligning 3 ball fixture. Simply place the optic on the fixture and adjust for high contrast fringes. Every subsequent sample is pre-
aligned and ready to measure without adjustment.

All units utilize phase shifting interferometry powered by Apre Instruments Reveal software for data acquisition. 10X or 20X Mirau objectives are used for measurement in the small optics
mode while a 2.5x Michelson objective is used in the large optics mode. A change in the MFT base must be made when switching from large to small optics mode due to the difference in objective lengths. Otherwise, all the same hardware is used in either mode.
